Who am I?

Dance and Discovery

Hi, I’m Horus Mozarabe, a passionate dancer based in Lisbon, Portugal. My dance journey began during my studies in Coimbra, where I was getting my Bachelor’s degree in Biology. It was there, that I found my dream and inspiration in the art of Bellydance.

Under the guidance of several mentors, I embarked on a profound journey of self-discovery through movement. From the moment I took my first steps in the studio, I knew that dance would become an integral part of my life.

Since then, I’ve dedicated myself to exploring various dance styles, from the elegance of Ballet to the raw energy of Breakdance, from traditional forms to the contemporary world, and everything in between. Each new style I encountered enriched my understanding of movement and deepened my appreciation for the universal language of dance.

Beyond the realm of dance, I also hold a degree in Osteopathy and have completed a postgraduate program in Therapeutic Exercises. This background in healthcare has deepened my understanding of the human body and enriched my approach to movement as a form of healing and expression.

EXTRAORDINARY EXPERIENCES

I’ve been incredibly fortunate to learn from some of the most talented dancers and teachers in the world, including luminaries like my dance soulsister Marta Machado and my first teacher Petra Pinto, Rachel Brice, Sharon Kihara, Zoe Jakes, Kami Liddle, Amy Sigil, Salimpour Family and many many others around the globe. Their guidance has not only shaped my technical skills but also instilled in me a profound sense of humility and gratitude for the art form.

On a personal note, I’m proud to have started my dance journey alongside Petra at medieval fairs, where we founded our first group, Cia Mozarabe, from which my stage name Horus Mozarabe emerged. As our paths diverged and we regrouped as Rast – Music & Dance Ensemble. Together with my sister Marta Machado and our talented team, including Nilson Dourado, Adriano Dias, Tiagos Santos, and Gulami Yesidal, we’ve embarked on a journey to share our passion for dance and music at across the country. It’s been a joyous and rewarding experience, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with such talented and inspiring individuals.

In addition to honing my craft as a performer, I’ve also had the privilege of sharing my love for dance with others around the globe. Through teaching and performing, I’ve witnessed firsthand the transformative power of dance to bridge cultural divides and foster connections across communities

Throughout my career, I’ve had the privilege of participating in numerous festivals across Europe and USA, each one a unique opportunity for growth and learning. I am deeply grateful to all the organizers and individuals who have extended invitations and provided platforms for me to share my art. Each festival and city holds a special place in my heart, and I carry with me the persons, lessons and memories from each experience

Among the many highlights of my career, one particularly memorable moment was my participation in the Massive Spetacular in Las Vegas. The Massive is renowned as one of the largest and most prestigious dance events globally, uniting artists from around the world in celebration of dance. Being part of this event was a profound honor, allowing me to perform alongside esteemed colleagues and learn from their expertise. The atmosphere of creativity and camaraderie at the Massive Spetacular was truly inspiring, leaving an indelible mark on my artistic journey.

Looking towards the future, I’m excited to announce the launch of my new platform, Fusion Online. This platform will provide access to a wide range of dance classes, both recorded and live, as well as specialized courses such as Fusion Biomechanics 101. My goal is to create a space where dancers from around the world can come together to learn, grow, and connect through the power of movement.

In addition to Fusion Online, I have several other projects in the works, including workshops, mini-courses, and collaborations with artists from different disciplines. I’m constantly seeking new ways to expand my artistic horizons and share my passion for dance with the world.

As I continue my journey, I remain committed to approaching each step with humility, curiosity, and an unwavering dedication to growth. Dance has been my greatest teacher, guiding me along a path of self-discovery, connection, and creative expression.
